Obesity Management

Obesity management requires commitment, knowledge, and sometimes medical detective work. Here at Family Healthcare, our providers are committed to using all of our resources to evaluate your current medical situation and map out a plan to meet your health and weight goals. Some patients will see results modifying their daily habits to include exercise and portion control; while others may need the addition of prescription medication for healthy weight loss.

Controlling obesity is a necessary step in reaching your overall health goals. Most of us carry some extra weight from time to time depending on the season of life we are in, but some of us carry excess weight called visceral fat that endangers the healthy operation of several organs. This extra weight can also contribute to a variety of serious health conditions including heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, stroke, gallbladder disease, sleep apnea, reduced fertility, and osteoarthritis.

We believe in treating obesity as the disease that it is and will evaluate each individual thoroughly with examination, history, and lab testing to provide an individualized and comprehensive approach to weight loss and healthy weight maintenance.
